Great that you got to show your hometown to your kids. Looks like a great trip! I was in Busan last October and loved it. The seafood there is amazing. The rest stops in Korea blew my mind...I couldn't believe how great the food was and surrounded by mountains.

I've seen and heard all about the 휴게소 on the 고속도로. My renting the car was as much about stopping at those rest stops as getting to Geochang and Busan, really. Those patently Korean snacks, like 소떡소떡, 호두과자, among others, were so good. And most of them for $3~$4 each! One of the things I'll really miss when I get back home. I was a little afraid that the kids might be bored on the road, but the opposite happened, which I'm so grateful for.

So happy that your family loved the visit to your hometown. Speaking of Korean restrooms, I was in Seoul in mid-July and was amused to see a sign in the ladies' room asking us not to step on the toilet seat.

What an experience that was. I'm really glad that I did it although I had reservations about it--seeing the look on their faces made the whole trip for me.

I think I vaguely know what the notice on the ladies restroom might have said, and it gave me a good chuckle. I hope you enjoyed your time in Korea in July--didn't it rain non-stop?

We loved Korea and am already planning a trip back. It was hot and humid, but very little rain. One early evening shower--pretty light. I hear we were lucky.
